Having run my own business as a master Thatcher for 35 years we have always used Troy at Ye Olde Woodworkery for all of our work on listed buildings.
Over the years we have worked on many projects all over Oxfordshire from small repairs to porches and complete re-roofs. All of Troy’s work has been to the highest of standards and importantly sympathetically done to the character of the historically important buildings we work on.
I have also recommended Troy to many of my clients who have employed him for many jobs on their properties including new handmade windows, lead work, lime plastering etc and finally I even used Troy to renovate my own house where he did all the work on a complete refurb. In summary I would highly recommend Troy for any projects you are looking to do on your property.

Jane Marcus5 StarI own a Victorian church and was looking for someone to restore the original oak gates.
After many failed attempts to find anyone who understood that I did not want a pair of new ones, and that I wanted the originals restored. Almost giving up, I quite by chance found Ye Olde Wood Workery and Troy.
I can only agree with all of his five-star ratings, he took a pair of dilapidated and in some parts rotten pair of gates and restored them quite beautifully, without taking away any of their old charm. They look like they should look, and I am delighted and happy not only with the standard of work, but the excellent communication and attention to detail. He also arrived when he said he would and returned them when he said he would.
We managed to communicate almost completely by email, which I found very convenient and easy, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I shall not hesitate to contact him again with other projects.
It was a lovely change to talk to someone who understood the remit and dealt with the job accordingly. On a side note, they had been returned less that 24 hours when four complete strangers commented on how beautiful they looked.Tuesday 22nd March 2022

They are made with good quality wood and to a very high standard. The workmanship is great and we received a very professional, responsive service.
