Tom Trimmins Woodwork

Make a picture frame in oak and walnut using a special Japanese-inspired joint I've developed myself, with neat walnut dowels to hold the picture in place. Get everything you need delivered to your door and follow the instruction videos to make along with me at your own pace, whenever and wherever you like. The project is designed to use only hand tools (get any bits you need from my tool shop) and you can sit at any table or worktop, so there's no workbench required. Tom runs an excellent course for both beginners and those with experience that might want to improve their skills. He allows you to get on with it whilst always ready to help where you need help. He has a charming character that appears relaxed but is relentless in its pursuit for perfection. A great course – thank you. An amazing location, so lovely to be out of the city and in such a tranquil woodland haven. It was a really special weekend retreat, fantastic teaching from Tom, nature-based inspiration from Ida and mouth-watering food from Claire. Seeing all our different spoons carved from just one tree at the end of the weekend was wonderful.

Tom is a brilliant teacher. Super patient, knowledgeable and passionate about your project. He always offers several solutions to any making conundrum and is keen to introduce you to new tools and techniques. His workshop is a fantastic woodworking haven. Can’t wait to go back for more making.

Fantastic joinery course. Tom is skilled in guiding you through projects with assured knowledge and light humour. Despite my tendency to slip into the red mist of a neurotic chiselling episode, he would gently bring me back into the room with reminders that woodwork should be fun. And fun it was indeed.
