Welcome to Thorncroft Clematis a third generation family company that grew out of a back garden hobby.
We are a leading UK Clematis Mail Order Specialist with long experience in selling high quality clematis plants to customers all over the United Kingdom.
We are a small team, I am Peter, third generation in the business, I do all the customer communication, plant advice and promotion. Heather manages our dispatch site with her team who do the plant care, order picking and packing. We are lucky to be able to call on support of my family, parents Ruth and Jon, my wife Gilly who many of you will have conversed with on the phones and email. Then at the shows we are often helped by a band of loyal friends, current and ex-staff members as well.
This is business of passion and we are dedicated to putting smiles on peoples faces, selling high quality plants and ensuring we give great advice to our customers to ensure you have success with them in your garden.
Being a small independent nursery we appreciate every customer and every sale no matter how large or modest in size.

It was first class quality and whilst not expecting many blooms in its first winter, it has flowered abundantly. I had a query about pruning which was answered promptly and helpfully. Carol Eves5 StarThe company has a wonderful collection of clematis and gives excellent information about the growing of these super plants. Another bonus is that you can find out what will grow best in any situation as well as find unusual varieties to impress friends and family.
Although this is a three person company the service is first rate. You are informed by email at every stage or your order. Any queries are always dealt with quickly. This is my second time of purchasing and as before the clematis arrived looking extremely healthy. They were well packaged and came with clear instructions. My previous order arrived in the same condition and flowered beautifully this summer. Looking forward to seeing the latest additions next year.Wednesday 6th October 2021
Robert Smith5 StarI received my 3 clemetis very well packed and damage free. The plants were in beautiful condition looking very healthy. Of course the proof of the pudding will be in the flowering!! However, the success will in a great part be down to me. I received detailed planting and care instructions and I'm sure if I follow them well I will have a great display in years to come.
