I’m writing this review because if I had read what I’m about the write, I would have never used the Carpenter's House and saved myself a lot of money and stress. We have paid them thousands to have a bespoke oak kitchen fitted. Andy ignored my messages about a serious snag in the kitchen. When I called, he refused to come and fix the issues and stated there were unpaid extras for the kitchen. This was not the case as we’d received and paid the final invoice in full. They became rude and unpleasant to deal with when we didn’t buy an antique pantry from them (which didn’t fit in our kitchen and which they kept the deposit for - £400). They have not provided a guarantee or warranty, which is not acceptable on a product like a kitchen. To add insult to injury, they were extremely messy and didn't clean up after themselves - including taking paint off the walls which we had to get redecorated (see photos). Please be warned if you are thinking of using them.

A family run team , delayed due to covid times, but well worth the wait. Andy is an excellent carpenter, we are so pleased with panelling. If decorating is needed then do not hesitate to ask Pete who works along Andy, excellent worker, does a lovely job. Both very polite . Would certainly recommend every time.

We contacted Andy & Martina after a friend of ours had a piece of furniture made & was totally thrilled with both the work, friendly attitude & enthusiasm they showed. We had an unsightly radiator that needed hiding, what we ended up with far exceeded our expectations. We now have a beautiful handcrafted window seat with a radiator cover attached, resulting in a usable space & a ghastly radiator well hidden 😊 would definitely recommend.

These guys built our beautiful Shepherd’s Hut from start to finish. Andy (the owner) is a perfectionist and his attention to detail is fantastic. Andy is also very approachable and goes above and beyond to make the job works we would absolutely not hesitate to use Andy’s bespoke carpentry services again. Our Shepherd’s Hut can be seen on Airbnb in Durham. The Carpenters House have also done bespoke joinery work at our Launderette/bar/venue in Durham. Old Cinema Launderette. This is a husband and wife business. They are both artisans in the true sense of the word and really nice to have in the house. We have gone through a house remodel and extension. So, Andy, James and Martina had to design the kitchen with us based on plan drawings. They made suggestions and inputted ideas that really helped shape the design of our new kitchen (and which now finished all ideas worked!). The work was first class and we are thoroughly delighted with the outcome. Price wise they were certainly very competitive, particularly when you are getting a hand made real wood kitchen (rather than mass manufactured MDF!). The work did take a little bit longer than indicated. But this was mainly due to them wanting everything perfect. And it is. We’d highly recommend them
