The Smith's Story
The team at Smith's would like to extend to you a warm welcome to our website. Bertram Thomas Smith, started growing at Smith’s in the 1930’s. It all began with two small greenhouses, an old coal boiler to keep the plants warm at night and ten acres of land laid out to wallflowers and roses. This was the start of a successful and longstanding business which is still flourishing over eight decades later.
Today, owned and run by the ever present Norman Smith, we have come a long way, becoming a family-run garden centre which really does have it all. From our exceptional quality plants and shrubs to our superb garden furniture and barbecues, we have a huge range of carefully selected products to compliment your garden and home. We have an outstanding team of friendly and knowledgeable staff who are always ready to answer your questions. We pride ourselves upon our customer service and this will never change.

We have a rich heritage and a reputation to uphold, and we are proud of the success we have achieved through our dedication to our customers and our product choice. T B5 StarA great family owned garden centre. It has a huge selection of plants and the staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. The cafe has a lovely choice of savouries and cakes, is absolutely spotless and the staff are really friendly. Would thoroughly recommend having a good look round the garden centre, followed by a bite to eat in the cafe. Reasonably priced too.Saturday 28th May 2022

Jonathan Thomas5 StarOver the years ,me and my wife have visited many garden centers in the UK and abroad.
But this family run business, is by far the best .
Fantastic palms and bonsai's.
Sadly my wife passed away last month ,but Smith's garden centre has been a real help for me and my daughter.
We meet up for a coffee and home made pastries at the on site cafe.
The staff at the centre are knowledgeable, and friendly.
This garden centre deserve's 5 stars.

Lesley Creek3 StarWell,went today with friend,we went to the cafe,and were very surprised at the changes there!.There was no cooked food,it used to be so nice before.Just had warmed up food.Not even soup.Coffee machine not working,to even to have hot chocolate.. Staff we found had attitude. The place its self is very good.The change of the cafe, not the right change!. Very sad,and expensive,if you had children too.!.Yes,saw notice, of other things coming soon, soup would have been good?.Also may we say.Something for people, who have to have Gluten Free!. More thought needed!. May be back,sometime.??.Thursday 7th April 2022

As an item was accidentally left behind at the store the first time, he did a second journey the very same afternoon even though it meant he would have to come after he was meant to have clocked off work. What a gem. Thanks so much John!
Tom helped us when we were at the store (earlier that day) and answered a ridiculous number of questions in a friendly and helpful manner despite having other people waiting to speak with him. You are far more patient than I could ever hope to be!
The lady (sorry I didn’t get your name!) at the information desk inside the store was also really helpful and patient with us even though it was crazy busy that day.
