A massive thank-you to all our customers for keeping us in business through the pandemic. Apologies to our EU customers as because of the Brexit fiasco it is no longer viable to send plants to Europe. However we will always remain European in our hearts! . Our gold medal winning alpine nursery is one of the UK's top five specialist growers of Alpines. Our passion is the tough plants that flourish in our Yorkshire garden… and therefore should in yours too. We're situated at nearly 1000ft in the Pennines, with an average yearly rainfall of 1200mm and have lost count of the number of times visitors have exclaimed “If it'll grow up here, it'll grow anywhere”. Whether you're a beginner or enthusiast you'll find a wonderful selection of reliable and more unusual plants to tempt you. Choose via our mail order shop and we'll deliver them to you with great care and attention. Best wishes and happy alpine growing!

Wonderful little garden and nursery. Mainly alpines up here and there is a huge selection of them. Great place for inspiration and to have a walk around.

Well worth a visit if you love plants and are in the area. Alpine plants raised and grown, not bought in; they know and love their plants. Garden planted to display a wide variety of alpines- inspirational to walk round and view. Plants NOT expensive either. Worth signing up to receive their emails, too, as you can then order what you want from a very comprehensive list. PS no public toilet on site - they suggest you visit cafe etc in nearby Heptonstall.

I visited early in the alpine season (second weekend of March), so the range for sale was a little limited (to be expected!), but there was clearly plenty growing for sale later in the season. Some very unusual specimens were available, and lots of advice and expertise on offer to make the most of your purchases. The plants are slightly more expensive than those from a general garden centre, but that is to be expected from a specialist grower, and the quality is much higher. Cash only (which is actually a lovely old-fashioned experience, rather than a down point) The garden centre is located behind the house, down a small track (it is well sign posted but don't expect a normal garden centre, this is a residential house with the sales area at the bottom of the back garden) Would definitely visit again

Highly recommended! Friendly helpful service from some real experts. The plants are lovely - healthy and strong and already look great in their new homes. The service was first class and even during this strange Covid social distancing situation we're currently in they went the extra mile to help. Cant wait to visit as soon as we're allowed to.
