We asked Neat & Tidy to build some new steps, lay a patio, do some rendering and lay a new lawn for us in Nov 2018. The construction of the steps was outsourced to another builder and were unfortunately built incorrectly. They were still not as per the original requirement; they didn’t align/meet with the grass level (leaving a big exposed area of mud and rubble) and the individual steps were different in depth. For an additional cost, Neat & Tidy amended the steps. When Neat & Tidy laid patio slabs to form the step surface, they didn’t address the pointing underneath the slabs which means you can see splodges of cement when looking at the steps. When we raised this, Neat & Tidy came back to try and resolve the issue and told us once painted, the rough pointing wouldn’t be visible. After painting, it’s still very obvious. The rendering work was also outsourced and was completed on weekends and in the evening – around other jobs it seemed. The first wave of the rendering completed on the weekend (in daylight) was good, the second wave completed in the evening (in the dark) was not so great. The patio finish is poor – we had to identify a number of slabs that needed to be re-set and it’s un-even in many places. Neat & Tidy built a curb edging using block pavers that are uneven and a number of them have already come loose. Neat & Tidy have re-set a couple of blocks, but they keep coming loose. The most frustrating thing is that the patio holds puddles of water after it rains – something we raised as a concern before the work started. This has already started to lead to dis-colouring on the slabs where the water has sat for long periods of time. The patio slabs were left with spots of cement over them, which needed to be removed with a jet-washer. Neat & Tidy did eventually come back to jet wash the slabs when we raised the issue, but we had to wait until they next hired a jet washer for another job, as they don’t own one. Annoyingly, there are still visible clumps of cement on the slabs that they missed and they left our French doors and exterior walls covered in dirt and dust from the jet wash spray which had to be cleaned. The driveway gully on our shared pathway was left full of sand and muck – which caused flooding and led to our neighbours complaining. They didn’t properly clean up before leaving (fence and wheelie bins were sprayed with flecks of cement) and they left materials behind (a large length of wood and beeding strips – which had to be taken to the tip). The lawn looked good to begin with, but we’re now seeing patches of it starting to die. A couple of people have asked me if I did the work myself, which kind of sums it up really.

John carried out the repair to my shed roof efficiently and effectively. He advised me of the cause of the problem and suggested solutions. Would certainly use his services again.

John quoted a very reasonable price to replace five fence panels. John and his team arrived bright and early and have made a truly fantastic job of replacing my fence. They even had to move my small shed, which must have added to their hard work, but did this without any problems. So pleased with their work that I have asked John to return to return to returf my garden!!!. Thanks John.

John came and laid the decking in my garden. Came nice and early, and completed the work a day early and on budget. I would strongly recommend!
