Hawgrip Plant Centre & Nursery

Hawgrip Nursery has been in existence for over 25 years and in 2017, when the previous owners, Colin and Helen retired, was taken over by a local family – brother and sister and is still an INDEPENDENT FAMILY BUSINESS. It still operates in a similar way with thousands and thousands of home grown plants, all grown here on site but now with a far wider range of hardy stock too.

Everything is competitively priced and Hawgrip Plant Centre is a proper Plant Centre. No coffee shop, gifts or nic nacs, just Core Gardening and if you love your garden, you’ll love it here. We aren’t all singing, all dancing and we probably aren’t considered immaculate, but we do know what we’re doing when it comes to growing plants and bedding plants in particular. This year we’ll be growing well over 1 Million and thats a lot of pricking out and potting on.

Stock changes quickly and we keep our prices keen to keep our greenhouses working at capacity. We grow in heated and unheated houses and our plants are strong and healthy. We doubt you’ll find a better product and certainly not at these prices. We grow more Perennials now than ever before and this is becoming a big part of our Summer production.

Tremendous amount of choice here. You will be overwhelmed by what is on offer and the very reasonable prices. Always busy and popular with many folks, particularly the retired who always like to watch the pennies and look after the £'s ! Update 15th August: went again. Still tons of stuff there on sale. Came away with some garden canes and crocus bulbs.

A very good place for plants and garden-related sundries. Large range of plants, including veg and bedding plants etc in season. They also have a large pile of compost/soil improver (not potting compost); you pay £2.75 per bag and fill it yourself, as much or as little as you want or can carry. The same amount of potting compost in most places would probably cost you £10 or more. This is not a garden centre; you won't find a Sainsbury's food hall, or clothes, or indoor ornaments etc or any nonsense like that. They do have pet, poultry and wild bird food etc , and there is a also dog grooming parlour. Well worth a visit.

Plenty of variety, clean and well presented. Staff friendly and helpful. I didn't realise a big this place is until you walk back through the building. Well worth a visit

Huge range of plants at reasonable prices. Good stocks of compost varieties and aggregates. Plenty of parking and good supply of trolleys. Unlike most garden centres, there's none of the usual gifts etc and no coffeevshop. Would definitely recommend
