We approached Tom @ Ground Designs to design an extension to our bungalow to make it more accessible for my husband and myself who both have chronic illnesses. When we had to adjust our budget, Tom was able to suggest changes that enabled us to have the extra space we wanted at a lower cost. I would recommend Ground Designs without any hesitation and will be using Tom again in the next few years to design a second extension for our bedroom.

Tom Ground helped us from the beginning to end of the renovation of a 180 year old Barn. His support throughout this process was amazing. He was polite, friendly and efficient, and even easy to get hold of! He listened to our wish list, and came up with ideas he thought we might like. His extensive knowledge on the refurbishment and renovation of old buildings (including a great deal of work for the National Trust, I believe) provided us with great reassurance. The end result is exactly what we wanted. His easy going manner made the whole process so much less stressful than it might otherwise have been. We can’t thank him enough and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of an architect.

After years of trying to get planning permission on our Grade 2 listed Thatched Barn we approached Tom to try and achieve a scheme that the conservation officer would finally approve of. Tom came up with a design that was passed but not without him having to go through all sorts of hoops to satisfy the officer. Tom dealt with the application promptly, efficiently and professionally always consulting us and keeping us informed. Despite the officers very negative attitude Tom has managed to still produce a great design that retains all the character of the barn but will still be a conversion to be proud of. Thank you Tom.

Tom was fantastic to work with and shared our enthusiasm for our 1950s bungalow renovation. It really felt like a team effort with all of our wish list of both functionality/sustainability being achieved to our budget!! Cannot wait to live in our dream Ground Designs family home :)
