A little more about us…

After a long career in banking, I decided to make the move into lawn care and, with invaluable support from my wife Caroline, we acquired our local Greensleeves Lawn Care franchise area from Head Office early in 2004.  Initially we ran it jointly with me doing all the day to day outdoor work and Caroline controlling the back office and arranging the workflow; her style of dealing with people has earned many compliments from customers, a lot of whom will not have actually met her in person.  With customer numbers rising, we took on our first employee in 2006, after two years in business, with further lawn care managers being recruited in 2008. We like to appoint people people who, as well as delivering the service carefully and conscientiously, are able to talk to customers and establish a rapport.  In the year 2009, Caroline and I acquired the customer list of a competitor organisation in our area, so strengthening our presence in the west side of our territory, and we have, since then, continued to build customer numbers.

Our ethos is to provide the tried and tested Greensleeves products to our customers, tailored as far as possible to their individual needs.  The large number of positive reviews of the business that have been logged suggest that this flexibility is appreciated by many customers and a slice of the new business acquired has resulted from introductions from existing customers, further underlining the value that they put on the way that we operate.

We try to get away from the business for a break when we can, although foreign travel has been curtailed by the pandemic.  Until quite recently our home was very busy while our four children were living here but the kids have all moved away so it is a much quieter place these days.  The family have been season ticket holders at local side Bradford City for many years; this has brought more than its fair share of frustration and disappointment but we were lucky enough to be present at the games in the successful cup runs between 2012 and 2014.  Although I was born and bred in Somerset, I have spent nearly 30 happy years living in West Yorkshire close to Caroline’s home city of Leeds.
