We engaged James @ Deft Landscaping to remodel our tired small back garden in Bishops Cleeve. From the moment we met him we were impressed with his enthusiasm for the job and his ideas. He provided a plan of his design after consultation with us about things we wanted and didn’t want. Having agreed the plan he was on site as promised. He has made an “ordinary” boring back garden in to a beautiful space. We now have a brilliant porcelain patio next to our kitchen/dining room which really extends the internal space beautifully into the garden. He built a small deck area against a big shed we have which holds onto the evening sun, making it a great place to relax in the evening. James built raised beds and an amazing pond using reclaimed railway sleepers. He also added a pathway adjacent to the new lawn he laid. This is made of sleepers set into small cobblestones, looks like a nice beach, which we will plant into. We have also benefited from new fencing around the garden-which helps to finish it off. We can’t wait until next spring when the plants start to grow into their spaces. James’s ideas and standard of work is top notch and when we get round to doing our front garden he will be our choice.

James had full ownership of the design and build of our garden, replacing a huge garden shed with a lean-to bike store and second BBQ patio area. He extended our original main patio and replaced the tired grass lawn with a sunken fire-pit/sitting area, with contrasting porcelain patterned tiles. The vertical cascading green tiles on the raised beds are an amazing feature! His attention to detail and communication throughout was exemplary and he was a pleasure to work with. 100% recommended.

The courtyard garden at our house was in dire need of a total renovation. James was brilliant from start to finish. He helped guide us through the design process, being flexible and collaborative along the way, and brought lots of ideas based on our conversations. The job was really clearly scoped and costed before we started work. And when the work itself started we thought James was highly organised and efficient. Communication was great, we made a few tweaks along the way which he both suggested and accommodated, and there were no surprises. We upgraded a few materials and added some elements to the design - nothing was problematic and the final execution of the work was great. James helped source the materials and did a nice job with the planting as well - we weren’t sure on what direction to take at points and he was great at making suggestions / recommendations. We’re really happy with the finished article. And James is also very nice which made the project easy and fun.
